A philosophical exploration of simulating and controlling the quantum world: Understanding the nature of quantum mechanical systems is notoriously difficult, yet, despite this, specially designed laboratory systems are increasingly providing clues as to how to control the quantum world.

Associate Professor Andrew Crowden is co-lead Chief Investigator with Professor Sarah Medland from QIMR Berghofer on a research project on the philosophical ethics dimensions of Genetic Determinism. The project, a collaboration between UQ, QIMR Berghofer, The University of Virginia and The John Templeton Foundation, is funded at $507,086 US. Dr Mathew Gildersleeve is a researcher on the project.

Argumentation is a highly transferable core skill and principal component of Critical Thinking. Argument mapping is a low cost and effective way of teaching this skill but guidance is needed to implement it in pedagogies outside of philosophy.
