Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919) was a major Marxist theorist during the era of the Second International, author of works such as The Accumulation of Capital and Social Reform or Revolution. She was also a significant political revolutionary and a co-founder of the German Communist Party. She played a prominent role in the internal politics of the German Social Democratic party as well as being active in Polish socialist politics under the German and Russian empires. Her legacy is still influential in the Left in Europe and more widely.
An international editorial collective is currently engaged in publishing an edition of Luxemburg’s complete works in English. This will be more comprehensive than the multi-volume edition of her works that was published in the former East Germany, including many writings that have not been republished since their original publication in scattered newspapers and elsewhere over a century ago. Andrew Bonnell is a member of the editorial group and a co-editor of the forthcoming Volume 7. He will discuss some of the practical aspects of editing work, and issues that arise from editing Luxemburg in particular.
