On Biography-Writing as a Historian: Some Lessons Learnt

Biography writing has been a focus for historians for a long time. But 'History Lite' has been the rather patronizing description for many biographies written by non-historians or as literary works. Peter Hempenstall has written three and a half biographies during his career, and in this paper considers aspects of approach, method, and interpretation.
