Researcher biography
Gilbert has taught Philosophy at The University of Queensland from 1999 to 2020. He was the founding president of the Queensland Association of Philosophy in Schools (QAPS) from 1994 to 1996, and president of the Federation of Australasian Philosophy in Schools Associations (FAPSA) from 2002 to 2003. He has published widely on democratic education, civics and citizenship education, dialogic pedagogy, the development of the community of inquiry in educational discourse, and the history and development of philosophy in schools in Australia.
