I compare and contrast the goal of thinking rationally with the goal of mental health. I suggest that rationality is a dimension of mental health, but not the only one, and it that it counts as a dimension of mental health because it has a fundamental role in the good human life. I use this argument to bring out a larger claim that mental health is an ethical concept, not a strictly medical or scientific concept.
