In September 1936, the Association of Symbolic Logic published its membership list. It includes 14 women among the 164 Members. Who were these women? Where did they come from? What did they do? This talk will trace their careers and highlight the avenues of their influence, looking closely at how the study of symbolic logic became mainstream within American higher education in the inter-war period. (Although the talk is about logic it is not strictly a logic talk and will be accessible to general audience.)
