Islam and the Qur'an

The Studies in Religion Program at the University of Queensland in collaboration with St Thomas More College will be hosting a Continuing Professional Development seminar on Islam and the Qur’an. The seminar is aimed at secondary school teachers working with the Studies of Religion secondary school curriculum.

The speaker for the evening will be Dr Ryan Williams. Dr Ryan Williams is a Lecturer in Studies in Religion at the University of Queensland, Australia and jointly a Research Fellow at the Centre of Islamic Studies, University of Cambridge. His research interests lie in the study of Islam and society with an ongoing interest in understanding the lived experiences of Muslims in connection with themes of belonging and social cohesion, piety and ethics, and state power and multiculturalism.
