The 6th Chuan Han Sheng Lecture: The Impact of 1930s World Depression on China’s Society, Economy and Sino-Japanese Relations

Professor Chuan Han Sheng was one of the founders of the field of Modern Chinese Economic History. In the past four years, we have invited five eminent scholars, Professors David Faure, Wang Gungwu and Wang Yeh-chien, Liu Ts’ui-Jung (Former Vice-President, Academia Sinica) and Takeshi Hamashita gave the Chuan Han-sheng lectures. Both Professor Ricardo Mak and Dr Chi Kong Lai will chair this lecture. Tim Wright is the most esteemed scholar in the field. Like Professor Chuan Han-sheng, Tim Wright is not only a top Chinese social and economic historian who draws upon archival sources but also a paradigm-builder in the field.
