Heroic Australian Women in World War One
21 March 2018 7:30pm–9:00pm
Over 2000 Australian nurses enlisted in World War One and saved thousands of lives of Anzac ssldiers. The six nurses in this talk nursed on Hospital ships off Gallipoli, on Lemnos Island and in France, working heroically under terrible eonditions. They were not honoured like the men they nursed and were given very small pensions. Some were buried in pauper's graves. This lecture honours them, including two Brisbane heroines Grace Wilson and Florence James Wallace, heroines on Lemnos Island.
